Philips Respironics Sleep Therapy Products in Canada
Identify the exact device or mask, check current Canadian licences and safety notices, and confirm parts and support before making a purchase or changing prescribed therapy.

Quick answer
Philips Respironics makes CPAP machines, masks and parts. Virtual Sleep Care sells Philips masks, such as the DreamWear, Wisp and Pico, and DreamStation replacement parts, but not Philips machines. In 2021 Philips recalled many older CPAP and BiPAP machines, including DreamStation and System One models made before 26 April 2021, because a sound-dampening foam could break down. Registration for that recall in Canada closed on 31 December 2024. Check your exact model, and do not stop therapy without talking to your provider.
Six steps to check a Philips device or mask
- Photograph the label and record the product name, model, serial number and manufacture date where shown.
- Confirm whether it is a CPAP, auto-adjusting PAP, bilevel device, ventilator, humidifier, mask or accessory.
- Search Health Canada’s active licence listing for the exact device when a licence is required.
- Search Health Canada recalls and safety alerts using the model and identifier.
- Read the notice date, affected identifiers and current instructions carefully.
- Contact the treating provider, equipment supplier or current Philips support route before changing therapy or attempting a repair.
Philips CPAP recall in Canada: what to know
Last checked: 29 September 2026.
- What happened: in June 2021 Philips Respironics recalled many CPAP, BiPAP and ventilator models because a sound-dampening foam inside them could break down into particles and release chemicals. Health Canada classified it as a Type I recall and issued a public advisory on 30 July 2021, last updated 5 July 2024 (Health Canada).
- Which machines: older models made before 26 April 2021, including DreamStation CPAP, Auto CPAP and BiPAP, DreamStation Go, System One (REMstar and BiPAP), BiPAP A30/A40 and Trilogy ventilators. Check the full model list on Health Canada’s notice. The DreamStation 2 used as a replacement was not part of the foam recall.
- What to do: do not stop or change therapy without talking to your doctor or equipment provider; do not use ozone or other unapproved cleaners; and do not try to remove the foam yourself.
- Registration: Philips closed registration for affected devices in Canada on 31 December 2024. For an existing case, use Philips Canada’s recall support page.
- A separate 2024 recall covered some BiPAP A30/A40 machines and System One humidifiers for alarm and restart problems; it is not the foam issue (Health Canada).
- US sales stop: under a 2024 US agreement Philips stopped selling new sleep devices in the United States; Philips says it continues to supply new devices outside the US (Philips).

Magnetic mask safety is a separate issue
Health Canada has also published a safety notice for certain Philips Respironics masks with magnetic clips. This is separate from the foam recall. The notice identifies risks for users or nearby household members, caregivers or bed partners with specified implanted metallic devices or metallic objects. Check the exact mask and current contraindications before use.
Compatibility, parts and ongoing support
Before obtaining a machine, mask or replacement component, confirm the exact connection, power supply, humidifier, heated tubing, filter, data method and Canadian warranty. Recall remediation, replacement parts and ordinary warranty service are different processes. Do not assume a globally advertised part is available or authorized in Canada.
Use the CPAP Buying Guide for a complete purchase check and CPAP Replacement Parts for compatibility questions.
