Hi, I’m Angela Hoffman, Clinical Lead at Virtual Sleep Care. I’m a Registered Respiratory Therapist of over two decades, I’m a Certified Respiratory Educator, and we can probably even go as far as saying a self-proclaimed breathing nerd. But even more importantly, I’m a sufferer of sleep-disordered breathing.
For years, I lived with chronic congestion, allergies, chronic mouth breathing and poor-quality sleep. I was constantly waking up feeling unrefreshed.
When I was diagnosed with sleep-disordered breathing 10 years ago, my first go at CPAP was a struggle, and not because CPAP wasn’t the right therapy, but because there were actual fundamental underlying breathing issues that hadn’t been addressed. It took me years of research and self-education to understand what those issues were and how I was going to fix them. But once I did, I was finally able to adhere to my therapy, and everything changed. At 44, I now sleep better than I did at 24.
Let’s also keep in mind, I’m a respiratory therapist. Yet for years, I had no idea that my symptoms were related to my breathing.
And that’s why I say sleep-disordered breathing, not just sleep apnea. Sleep-disordered breathing exists on a spectrum. On one end, we’ve got mouth breathing and snoring. On the other end, we’ve got obstructive sleep apnea. All forms of sleep-disordered breathing can disrupt your sleep, sometimes even long before we call it apnea.
That’s what I bring to Virtual Sleep Care. I’ve spent years learning how to optimize nasal breathing and retrain breathing mechanics, and I know what it takes to get comfortable on therapy, because I’ve lived it. I teach our clinicians all of the reasons your breathing isn’t supported at night, not just what the numbers say on a sleep study or on a CPAP machine.
As Clinical Lead, I make sure every one of our clinicians carries that same knowledge, so you don’t have to go searching for answers on your own. Our clinicians provide comprehensive support, with everything explained clearly, so you can make informed decisions about your care.
Like me, you deserve a treatment you fully understand. You deserve honest, personalized guidance. And you deserve a clinical team that holds a high bar.
It took me years to find my way to better sleep. Having done that work, it’s now my calling to teach, raise awareness, and to make sure no one else has to struggle the way I did.
Let’s get you there faster. Together.
About Angela
Angela built NaviSleep around the conviction that people living with sleep and breathing problems deserve clear answers and a real say in what comes next. Her work includes multi-night home sleep testing and airway-focused assessment, helping people understand symptoms, assessment results, and cause-matched treatment options.
A patient-centred approach to sleep care
Sleep concerns can be complicated by changing symptoms, incomplete information, treatment uncertainty, and the practical realities of daily life. Angela’s approach is to make the pathway easier to understand: clarify what a concern may mean, explain the available assessment and support routes, and help people prepare thoughtful questions for the qualified professionals involved in their care.
Areas of focus
- Multi-night home sleep testing and sleep-disordered breathing assessment
- Airway-focused, cause-matched treatment planning
- PAP and CPAP therapy support and adherence
- Women’s sleep health, including perimenopause and midlife
- Respiratory physiology, spirometry, and virtual respiratory monitoring
- Patient education and virtual-first care navigation
A clearer pathway
How Angela’s expertise supports the learning journey
Understand the concern
Clear, plain-language education can help people connect sleep symptoms, breathing concerns, and daily impact before choosing a next step.
Navigate assessment options
Home sleep testing and other assessment pathways are easier to consider when people understand their purpose, limits, and the questions they are designed to answer.
Make sense of the result
People benefit from a clear explanation of what a result may indicate and which discussions, services, or supports may be appropriate next.
Build sustainable support
PAP comfort, equipment questions, habits, and follow-up can be important parts of making a treatment pathway workable over time.

Questions patients commonly ask Angela Hoffman
What does a Registered Respiratory Therapist do?
A Registered Respiratory Therapist is a regulated health professional trained in respiratory assessment, education, and care. This page is educational and does not replace an individual clinical assessment.
Do I need a referral to speak with Angela Hoffman?
Referral requirements depend on the specific service and province. Confirm the current requirements with the relevant service provider before making plans.
Can appointments be completed virtually?
Virtual options depend on the service, clinical appropriateness, privacy safeguards, and jurisdiction. Virtual Sleep Care offers home sleep testing and virtual appointments in Canadian provinces except Quebec. Coming soon to Quebec, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
What conditions does Angela help patients understand?
Her educational focus includes sleep-disordered breathing, sleep testing, PAP therapy, respiratory health, women’s sleep health, and related care pathways.
What should I expect during a home sleep assessment?
A home sleep test is intended to collect specific information while a person sleeps at home. The appropriate test, instructions, interpretation, and next steps are determined through the relevant qualified provider.
How can I improve success with CPAP therapy?
Comfort, mask fit, routine, equipment questions, and follow-up all matter. Individual guidance should come from the professional responsible for your assessment and therapy.
“Every patient deserves clear answers, compassionate guidance, and a treatment plan that fits their life—not just their diagnosis.”
