Expertise Should Be Visible And Verifiable

Health information is more useful when you can see who contributed to it, whether they wrote or reviewed it, which subjects fall within their professional scope, and when the page was last reviewed. An expert profile supports transparency; it does not replace an individual assessment or create a clinician-patient relationship.

How To Use This Directory

Check the Person

Open a profile to review professional background, credentials, areas of focus and approved external links.

Check the Role

“Written by,” “reviewed by” and editorial review describe different responsibilities and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Check the Page

A visible reviewer applies to the dated version and stated scope of that page—not automatically to every page on the website.

What Our Experts Contribute

Clinical Context

Experts help ensure explanations reflect appropriate respiratory and sleep-health concepts, limitations and safety boundaries.

Practical Education

Professional experience can make testing, CPAP, mask comfort and follow-up information clearer and more useful.

Defined Review

A reviewer checks a specific version within an appropriate scope. Material changes may require another review.

Written by, Reviewed by and Editorial Review

How Virtual Sleep Care describes content responsibility
LabelWhat It MeansWhat It Does Not Mean
Written byThe named person or team prepared the content.Authorship alone does not confirm clinical review.
Medically or Clinically Reviewed byA qualified professional reviewed the dated content within the stated subject area.It is not individualized care, diagnosis or a standing endorsement of future edits.
Editorial ReviewThe page was checked for clarity, structure, sourcing, accessibility and internal consistency. It does not replace clinical review when clinical claims require it.
Product or Commercial ReviewProduct identity, compatibility, availability or commercial details were checked through the relevant process. It is not a clinical recommendation or a guarantee that a product suits every person.

How We Check Credentials and Review Claims

  1. Verify Identity and Qualifications. Credentials, registrations, education and affiliations are checked against approved professional or first-party evidence.
  2. Define the Review Scope. The subject must be reasonably connected to the reviewer’s qualifications and experience.
  3. Review the Exact Version. A person is not credited until the content and attribution have been approved.
  4. Show Accountability. Published medical content should display the contributor, reviewer where applicable, dates and sources in a reader-visible format.
  5. Reassess Meaningful Changes. New evidence, safety information or substantial edits may trigger renewed review.

Read the Editorial Policy and Medical Review Policy for the broader standards behind this process.

Independence, Disclosures and Corrections

Professional review and commercial approval are separate responsibilities. A contributor’s employment, ownership interests, manufacturer relationships, sponsorships or other material connections should be disclosed when relevant to the content. Disclosure does not automatically disqualify a contributor, but the relationship must be assessed and managed.

To report a factual, sourcing or attribution concern, email support@virtualsleepcare.ca with “Content correction” in the subject line. Identify the page and statement without including unnecessary personal health information. Visit the Trust Centre for editorial standards, corrections, privacy and accessibility information.

What An Expert Page Cannot Do

A biography can help you understand a contributor’s background, but it cannot tell you whether a test, diagnosis, device or treatment is appropriate for you. Website education is not emergency monitoring and does not establish a professional relationship. Use an appropriate licensed healthcare professional for individual advice; call emergency services for an emergency.

Common questions

Expert And Review FAQs

Does every page receive medical review?

Not every page requires the same review. Clinical and treatment claims may require a qualified reviewer, while legal, privacy, product and general editorial pages follow other appropriate review paths.

How can I verify an expert’s credentials?

Review the person’s profile for credential details and approved verification links. Registration status and scope should be confirmed with the relevant professional regulator when that information is needed for a care decision.

Does an expert profile mean I am receiving medical advice?

No. Profiles and educational pages provide general information and do not establish a clinician-patient relationship, diagnosis or treatment plan.

Can expert-reviewed content become outdated?

Yes. Evidence, guidance, safety information and services can change. Review dates and material updates help readers judge currency, and meaningful changes may require renewed review.

How are conflicts of interest handled?

Relevant financial, professional or commercial relationships should be disclosed and clinical review should remain separate from commercial approval.

How can I report an error?

Email support@virtualsleepcare.ca with “Content correction” in the subject line. Identify the page, statement and supporting information without including unnecessary personal health information.
